Have you knocked out one of your permanent teeth? If so, the first thing you need to do is stay calm. Staying calm will help you improve the situation as much as possible. Then, our Kenai Dental Clinic team asks you to start repairing your oral health by doing the following things:
-Retrieve the tooth: Find the tooth, hold it by the crown (the section that was visible while it was still in your smile), and rinse the root with warm water if it’s dirty. Do not scrub the tooth as you wash it. Scrubbing it will remove any attached tissue fragments.
-Try to put the tooth back in place: If possible, gently slide the tooth back into its socket. Do not force it into place, and do not put it back into the socket the wrong way. If this is not possible, put the tooth in a small container of milk or in a cup of water that contains a pinch of table salt.
-See your dentist: Visit your dentist as soon as possible. The best way to save a knocked-out tooth is to see the dentist and return the tooth to its socket within 1 hour of it being knocked out.
